~Ultimate Soccer Manager
Reviewed by Dynamo.
-------------------
Based on the Demo version.
You know, football manager games are a curious breed of games, they
can sometimes be very dodgy. On the opther hand they are very
popular among the gaming freaks out there.
This particular game is quite good. There are a few noticable
differences from the Amiga version but still I dived further into the
game.
The game is extremely well presented, this is the game's secret. In
the demo version, you start as Brighton, oh yeah, brilliant, they
really want you to do well. But in the full version you have the
choice of five division.
You have a budget to stick to and the accountant will let you know
when a loan is needed. You can buy and sell players as any manager
would. You have to train the players and give them more money when
their agents get ont you back. During matches you have some degree
of control over the players whether it be in their position or if you
decide they are not playing to standard, subsitution is an option.
There is teletext so you can keep up to date on other games and
leagues, a fax to buy players, a telephone to rig matches and the
chairman may want to see you now and again.
On the down side of the game, the music is dreadful. It sounds like
something from you grandmother's Des O' Conner greatest (s)hits.
There are a few alternatives to Ultimate Soccer Manager but it is
still worth a look to see what you think.
